A page from a 2023 journal, four days after the idea for a company crystallised — and what it means that 600+ applicants now cite our operating principles.
We were organizing some of my old notes lately, and I came across this piece. It brought a smile :)
June 24, 2023. I checked my journal, - that was four days after crystalization of the idea to build a company.
The word "crystalization" does beautifully capture what was happening before that moment. - The days leading to that, the months before those days, and the years before those months. I knew the direction I was striving toward, but I could not find a path that was satisfying to me, a space which I didn't find so constraining.
Until I decided to let go of the default, make the leap, and build a system under principles I find reasonable.
Those were some of the most exhilarating days of my life. I don't know how many can resonate with that feeling, the feeling you get when you've been searching for something for so long, for days and months, years after years, and finally, you find it. A fish finally finding water. A key finally finding its lock.
People say that no one cares about your story until you are successful. So it will be a few years before I tell more of the story. (And you may find it to be one of those same old stories told over and over again through history, just with the monsters bearing different names.)
And yes, today's ENZIDIA was just a few such pieces of paper two years ago.At least now you see, it was almost gonna be called something else 😊
Many of the 600+ applicants to Enzidia today mentioned resonance with our operating principles as a key reason they applied, besides our mission and technology. Obviously we can’t hire everyone, but it’s heartening to see that si many recognize them as rare and valuable. Unlike our technologies, our culture code is free to spread. We'll be glad if it fosters a bit more purpose, fulfilment, and creativity in the greater world. 🤝 🌍
