How a young startup with few employees gets so much done — over 100 collaborators worldwide, and a new partnership with Yaoyu Yang's Cypher AI.
If you ever wonder how we manage to get so much done at ENZIDIA (the technologies, patents, partnerships, deals, logistics, communication materials, grants, projects) as such a young startup with so few team members, it is because our team is way bigger than it looks. We've been enjoying the trust and support of over 100 collaborators around the globe (and we keep a gratitude list of them), who have been helping ENZIDIA's journey from just about every aspect you can think of.
The collaboration with Yaoyu and Cypher AI is another highlight that recently kicked off. Yaoyu and I met at a synbio conference in 2014 when I was an undergrad and he was a PhD student UW Seattle. I already admired his mind then. He later worked at Ginkgo for 8 years and played a leading role in building the software solutions for Ginkgo's automation workflows, before coming back to his big plan all along - building a great company.
I am generally skeptical of pure AI engineers claiming they would enter and disrupt a field that they have but a surface-level of understanding. Yaoyu comes from the other direction, building AI enabling solutions for biotech R&D based on his top expertise in biotech R&D software development. AI simply supercharges what is already strong.
That would have been convincing enough for me. But then I saw the demo, and thought, "yep, that's what we need, whether or not we have an internal software developer".
It is thus our privilege to be one of the early adopters of the Cypher AI platform, enjoying the world-class support from Yaoyu's team to streamline ENZIDIA's R&D workflows and saving the most valuable currency of a startup - time. We are also honored to help strength the Cypher platform with our feedback along the way.
